| Here's about as unlikely a trio
of togetherness as you're ever going to see in the Town of Franklin. Attending
Franklin's 2002 Memorial Day ceremony were (L-R) Ted Joy, Frank Cassidy,
and that infamous man about town, Joe Carter. Also watching was a lady in
the back seat of the car across the street. One thing that made last year's
ceremony noteworthy was the fact that we had no special participants from outside.
There were no politicians or guest speakers. All of the participants were
Franklinians or somehow related to our fine town. In fact, attendee Merle
Cousins of Southwest Harbor (born and raised in Franklin and has a camp here)
said, (translated into English for clarity) "Franklin has just about the
best Memorial Day Ceremony of any community in Hancock County!". And that's
a true statement. If you're in town this year, you are highly encouraged
to attend. May 27, 2002 Franklin Maine |
