Donning the official hip waders of The Tugwassah Tattlah, we ventured into the water to get a closer look. What we discovered were 54 snapping turtle eggs. The evidence suggested that Mama Turtle laid her eggs in the soft sand of the bank and heavy rains washed them all into the pond shortly thereafter. One good Samaritan was able to retrieve about half of them and replant them in the bank. However, we fear that it will be all for naught. Mother Nature can be cruel at times.
