"Community Service" in summertime Maine means picking blackberries for the Sheriff under the watchful direction of Deputy Willard Breed. You'll note that Deputy Breed, although somewhat unconventionally attired for his profession, is packing a sidearm to ward off bears and foil escape attempts by the pickers.
  Mainers work hard to protect their crops, especially blueberries, from varmints. Free berries are highly prized by coyotes, seagulls, bears, deer, turkeys, and, worst of all, the dreaded.........
