Town Dump - Franklin, Maine
(AKA "Transfer Station")
Attendant - Ardy Wayne, AKA Willard Bunker

(We note with sadness that Ardy passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, December 2, 2006)

To get to the Franklin Town Dump, you head up the Eastbrook Road toward, where else, Eastbrook. It's on the left. If you cross the railroad tracks, you've missed it altogether. The Town Dump is open to Franklin residents only. Proof of residence is if Ardy Wayne knows you or believes your story about why you qualify. Only bagged trash is accepted and you must pay Ardy $1.50 for each bag deposited. Sometimes in the summer, the containers fill up during the weekend and the dump is closed until the containers are emptied. If you see the sign on the dump gate on a weekend day that says that the dump is closed, that's what it means - THE FRIGGIN' DUMP IS CLOSED! There is nothing more annoying to Franklin folks than to see someone with a car bearing Massachusetts or New Jersey tags piling trash bags at the closed dump gate. The dump hours are posted on the sign to your right.
