The 25 Star Flag .    1836-1837

   Well, Sir, I'd have thought that they would have had five rows of five stars each to make up a 25 star flag, but take a look at how they did it! This flag recognized the addition of Arkansas to the Union on June 15, 1836 and would only fly for just one year.

• Andrew Jackson ends his run as President and is succeeded by Martin Van Buren .
• 1837 - Victoria becomes Queen of Great Britain.  
• 1837 - Samuel Morse exhibits his electric telegraph in NYC. 
• 1837 - First Canadian Railroad. 

In the State of Maine:

• Robert Pinckney Dunlap is still Governor.
  

And in the booming Town of Franklin:

• Selectmen were:
• Stevens Gould, Russell Wooster, and Samuel Donnell (1836-1837)
• John West, David Springer, Jr., and John Scammon (1837-1838)
